Chris Christie (R) will sign off on a compromise bill that would end the state government shutdown in time to open state parks and beaches for the Fourth of July, NJ.com reported Monday night. Sources told NJ.com that Christie will approve a revised bill dealing with control of Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield that sparked the shutdown. The Department of Justice asked a federal judge in Hawaii to deny the state’s request for clarification on President Trump’s travel ban Monday, saying any order limiting the scope of the travel restrictions should be considered by the Supreme Court. Hawaii is challenging the administration’s enforcement of the ban, which finally went into effect on Thursday after being bogged down by legal challenges for months. Visa applicants from specific countries must now prove a “bonda fide” familial relationship to be accepted.

A legal group filed a complaint Monday asking the Justice Department to investigate whether Kris Kobach, the vice chairman of President Trump's voter fraud panel, violated federal law when his 2018 campaign for Kansas governor highlighted his role on the commission. Trump created the panel in May with an executive order after making the baseless claim that there were millions illegally casted votes for his Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton.  The panel sent letters last week to the 50 secretaries of state across the country requesting information about voters, with many refusing
