House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) is still in critical condition Wednesday night, and will be requiring more operations, according to MedStar Washington Hospital Center.  "Congressman Steve Scalise sustained a single rifle shot to the left hip. The bullet travelled across his pelvis, fracturing bones, injuring internal organs, and causing severe bleeding," Medstar Washington said in a statement Wednesday. "He underwent immediate surgery, and an additional procedure to stop bleeding. He has received multiple units of blood transfusion.

Following a surprise visit to House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) in the hospital on Wednesday, President Trump tweeted praising the lawmaker, calling him a "fighter" and asking followers to "pray for Steve." "Just left hospital. Rep. Steve Scalise, one of the truly great people, is in very tough shape - but he is a real fighter. Pray for Steve!" Trump tweeted late Wednesday.   Trump and First Lady Melania Trump visited Scalise in the hospital late Wednesday, according to a pool report. Scalise was shot along with four others Wednesday morning at a park in Alexandria, Va.
