Vladimir Putin at the G-20 Summit. It couldn't come at a more politically or diplomatically sensitive moment for both leaders.

At least 196 police officers have been injured in protests in the streets of Hamburg, Germany, where the G-20 summit is taking place. The demonstrations, which began Thursday ahead of the summit, continued Friday as thousands of officers clad in riot gear sought to prevent the mostly anti-capitalist protesters from disrupting the summit. One officer suffered a fractured limb, police said. Large fires burned in the streets of Hamburg after a second day of violent demonstrations.

President Donald Trump was the first to raise the topic of Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. election at his face-to-face meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin during the G-20 summit meeting on Friday -- which the Russian president denied, according to U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson. Tillerson also added that interference in the election was the first subject Trump raised on both leaders’ agenda for the meeting in Hamburg, Germany. "The president opened the meeting by raising the concerns of the American people regarding Russian interference in 2016 election.

It wasn’t so much Trump, the nominee as it was Trump, in so many ways the antithesis to what it means to be a Republican.
