Posted at 4:00 am on July 19, 2017 by Patterico As I mentioned yesterday, I am astounded that so many people want to blame the GOP’s failure to repeal ObamaCare on those who are least to blame: folks like Rand Paul and Mike Lee. As I said, the real villains are the people who voted for the ObamaCare (partial) repeal bill in 2015 — but oppose it today. Well, Mitch McConnell will soon call for a vote on a reanimated version of that same bill.

Posted at 8:14 pm on July 19, 2017 by Jay Caruso Disloyalty, it seems, knows no bounds with Donald Trump. Anything that happens which causes him to look bad is grounds for being tossed under the Trump Bus. The latest victim? Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Trump knows Sessions’ recusing himself led to the appointment of Robert Mueller. Now, Mueller with his prosecutorial power and not being tied down to Trump has the president nervous. Naturally, he’s going to look for scapegoats. He found one in Sessions.

Posted at 4:00 am on July 20, 2017 by Jay Caruso Party loyalty in politics is nothing new. The fact is, most people who vote for Democrats and Republicans are “party” people. Meaning it doesn’t much matter what positions an individual candidate or office holder has on issues. Voters walk into a booth, look at the party and vote for the Republican or the Democrat. It is the case in most scenarios, and that’s just a fact. Hard-core supporters are there and don’t like it when you criticize their guy. That’s understandable as well.

The House Budget Committee on Wednesday approved the 2018 fiscal year budget resolution that would increase military spending, produce billions in cuts to mandatory spending and open the door for a Republican tax reform plan. “With the election of President Trump, our budget goes from being a vision document to being a governing document that outlines how we build a better America for our children and grandchildren,” said committee Chairman MORE (R-Tenn.), who praised the accompanying plan to balance the budget in a decade and reduce the national debt.
