Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced Tuesday that the Trump administration will phase out the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy that was initiated under President Barack Obama in 2012, which protects immigrants who arrived in the United States in their youth from deportation. President Donald Trump characterized the decision as one made to protect the laws of the U.S., and urged Congress to develop a solution in the next six months before the program is ended.
