President Trump and lawmakers searched anxiously Tuesday for a way to end the policy of separating families after illegal border crossings.   A dispiriting 27 percent of the country supports the so-called zero-tolerance policy that has led to a sudden, dramatic increase in families being separated at the southern border.  Governor Andrew Cuomo said at least 70 children who were separated from their parents are currently being housed in New York facilities that have contracts with the federal government.
