White House aides this week told a senior Department of Justice official to prepare to replace Deputy Attorney General according to a New York Times report. White House chief of staff MORE fired his deputy attorney general or if he resigned. Aides dropped the plan to bring Whitaker on board by late Monday morning, the Times reported.  Trump and Rosenstein are set to meet on Thursday in a highly anticipated huddle.

The Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday questioned Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh about another assault allegation.  Republican Senate investigators asked Kavanaugh about an anonymous complaint alleging the Supreme Court nominee physically assaulted a woman in 1998, according to a transcript from that phone call.  The complaint was originally sent to Sen. MORE (R-Colo.).
