JACUNDA NATIONAL FOREST, Brazil — Brazil insisted on Tuesday that it would set conditions for accepting any aid from the world’s richest nations to help fight Amazon fires, saying France couldn’t protect the Notre Dame Cathedral from fire devastation and should focus on its own problems. The increasingly personal feud between Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro and French leader Emmanuel Macron threatened to derail a pledge of tens of millions of dollars by the Group of Seven nations for the Amazon region. Brazil has bristled over what it views as neo-colonial in

Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee filed a motion Monday to expedite the panel’s lawsuit seeking to enforce a subpoena against former White House counselor Don McGahn. In the new court filings, Democratic counsels argue their investigation, which they say is a time-sensitive matter because their probe expires in early January, is being severely delayed as a result of the White House blocking McGahn’s testimony.  "McGahn’s refusal to testify harms the Judiciary Committee by depriving it of a witness and information that are essential to its investigation, thereby impeding the Judiciary

MORE stepped into another controversy of his own making Monday by suggesting the U.S. could host world leaders at his golf resort outside Miami for next year's Group of Seven (G-7) summit. If Trump were to make his resort the meeting venue, his critics argue it would be another clear violation of the Constitution’s Emoluments Clause, which prohibits presidents from accepting payments from foreign countries, U.S. states or the federal government. “This is a president who has converted the presidency into an instrument of enrichment from day one.

MORE brought his tumultuous style of governing to the world stage over the weekend, offering a steady stream of vacillating statements that kept world leaders on their toes and generally dominated the Group of Seven (G-7) summit. Before he even took off for France, Trump had triggered a stock sell-off on the eve of the summit, set to focus on the global economy, by pledging to impose higher tariffs on China. Two days later, he suggested he regretted escalating trade war. Hours after that, the White House said he regretted not imposing higher tariffs.
