Article snippet: Posted at 11:30 pm on August 8, 2017 by Susan Wright It’s a week away from Alabama’s GOP Senate primary, and President Trump has tweeted out an endorsement for the establishment candidate, Luther Strange, over the more conservative candidates in the running, Representative Mo Brooks and former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore. From Politico: Strange has already been filling in the Senate seat left vacant when Jeff Sessions left to take the role as attorney general. The current race for that seat resembles the 2016 GOP primary season, with an overcrowded field that is sure to split up the vote. Strange is banking on Trump’s endorsement to carry him to the nomination, as Trump is quite popular in Alabama. The last polling data for the nomination had Moore with a slight lead over Strange, 31 to 29, with Brooks lagging back in third, with 18 percent of the vote.
