Hoping everyone has a wonderful weekend,” Stephanie Grisham, communications director for first lady Melania Trump, tweeted Friday evening. Alerts of the president’s visit were issued by the federal government earlier this week, according to The Frederick News Post, which noted a Federal Aviation Administration notice being issued. Similar notifications were sent in March and May but didn't lead to a visit. This is the first visit Trump will make as president to Camp David, which has served as a traditional country retreat for U.S. presidents. Since taking office, Trump has mostly opted to spend his weekends at his golf clubs in Florida and New Jersey. Past presidents have used the Camp David retreat in Maryland for personal use as well as hosting foreign dignitaries. Leaders such as former U.K. Prime Ministers Winston Churchill and Tony Blair have been hosted, as well as Russian President Vladimir Putin. Former President Jimmy Carter famously brokered the Camp David Accords between Egyptian President Anwar al-Sadat and Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin.
