Article snippet: Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) hit back at the Republican National Committee chairwoman’s dismissal of a report that President Trump is under investigation for obstruction of justice. Ronna Romney McDaniel, the chairwoman of the RNC, responded to a Washington Post report Wednesday that special counsel Robert Mueller is investigating Trump for obstruction of justice, saying that there's "no proof". “Mueller's unfounded accusation against [Trump] changes nothing. There's still no proof of obstruction of justice,” she tweeted. Lieu fired back, tweeting, “Perhaps you missed the whole firing Comey thing.”     The Post reported Wednesday that Mueller was investigating Trump for obstruction of justice in his probe into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia in the 2016 election. Trump has been under scrutiny for his firing of former FBI Director James Comey, which the president said he did because of the FBI investigation into ties between Trump and Russia. McDaniel’s tweet linked to a full statement responding to the Washington Post story. She denied the accusations against Trump in the statement, saying, “the continued illegal leaks are the only crime here.” Lieu has been an outspoken critic of Trump, saying the Trump administration has an "incredible disrespect for the rule of law" and mocking Trump’s reported conversations with Comey on Twitter.
