In short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only. But, what are we to comparing? James Comey, the lion of the FBI, a man of justice and honor, versus James Comey, a man of politics and incompetence. You see, since the investigation into the Clinton Email Scandal began, we have been told of two Comeys – both of them reared their heads when Comey publicly announced he would not seek an indictment of Hillary Clinton as he laid out the very reasons why he should. Republicans saw the Comey of politics and incompetence, while the Democrats saw the Comey of justice and honor. Then, Comey sent a letter to Congress indicating the investigation had been re-opened. It was a letter that so upset the Democrats that they saw what the Republicans saw… while the Republicans began to see Comey as the Democrats had previously seen him.
