He was backed by more than a dozen incoming lawmakers in the next freshman class, including Rep.-elects Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.) and Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), the first Somali-American elected to Congress. The show of force is targeted as much at moderate Democrats and party leadership as it is at MORE and his Republican allies.
