THE FACTS: There's been plenty of talk of gun restrictions, but legislation is far from moving along "pretty well." Action on background checks is stalled due in part to Trump's shifting positions. After the school shooting, Trump called for stricter gun laws and hinted at support for a more sweeping background check bill backed by Sens. Pat Toomey, R-Pa., and Joe Manchin, D-W.Va.
